RiRi's comeback is imminent
The Super Bowl halftime show is undoubtedly one of the biggest stages on the planet.
Only the biggest names in the music world get to entertain the masses - and a whopping 103 million viewers tuned in to watch the most recent one in February 2022, featuring Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg and more.
The next one, due to take place on February 12th 2023 in the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, will be headlined by none other than Rihanna - who has been absent from the music scene for several years.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting her comeback and it looks like it's going to be a pretty spectacular one, by all accounts - while Apple Music is sponsoring the show for the first time, too, taking over from Pepsi.
The news broke yesterday evening, with Apple Music tweeting: "It’s ON. Rihanna will take the stage for the first ever Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show on 2.12.23," and Rihanna tweeting the below picture:
However, it seems that there's a twist to the story. On Saturday, it was reported that none other than Taylor Swift had been approached to play the halftime show, but had turned it down.
TMZ claimed that Swift was approached by the NFL months ago, but said that she wanted to concentrate on the re-recording of her back catalogue.
She has four albums left to record in the series, while a new album, 'Midnights', will be released next month.
