The singer hasn't released new music since 2016's 'ANTI'
There have been rumblings for a while that Rihanna would be gracing us with new music, and it turns out 2019 will be that year.
Rihanna's previous record 'ANTI' was released in 2016, and featured the song of that year, 'Work,' featuring Drake. (The actual Grammy-award-winning song of 2016 was Adele's 'Hello', but whatever).
Speaking to a fan through a recent Instagram post, Rihanna confirmed she's currently working on new music.
When a fan commented on a promotional photo for Rihanna's Fenty beauty line asking, "But when is the new album dropping Robyn? Can we have a release date for that?"
The singer responded with a simple "2019."
This new record, should it be released in 2019, will be Rihanna's ninth studio album.
Her vocal producer, Kuk Harrell, who recently dubbed the album 'R9', said that the upcoming release is "amazing. It’s incredible."
Here's Rihanna's Instagram post where she responded to her fan.
The singer has been very busy as of late, securing roles in major Hollywood blockbusters. As well as starring in last year's 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets' she was also in the recent all-female reboot, 'Ocean's Eight'.
