"I feel like I'm the sweetest heart in all of the U.S. of A."
Lewis Capaldi is celebrating his first US number one in the best way.
Capaldi is originally from Scotland and is the first Scot to score a solo US number one since Sheena Easton's 'Morning Train (Nine To Five') in 1981.
'Someone You Loved' was number one for weeks in the UK and Irish charts. However Stateside it's proven to be a sleeper hit, only recently replacing Lizzo's 'Truth Hurts' for the top spot. It was in the charts for six months.
Capaldi was interviewed by Billboard over the weekend about the accomplishment and told the publication: "I feel like America's sweetheart, at least for a moment.
"I feel like I'm the sweetest heart in all of the U.S. of A.
"I feel like I'm a wrestler, and I'm just walking out [to the ring] and there's an American flag, and I'm saying, 'U.S.A! U.S.A.!' That's what I feel like, a wrestler."
Not only that but the singer went so far as painting his face with the American flag and declaring himself "America's sweetheart" in a tweet yesterday.
