The pop star sampled two speeches from the civil rights leader on 'Justice'
It's only been out a few days, but Justin Bieber's new album is already causing all sorts of controversy.
Not only is he the subject of legal action from French duo Justice over the artwork on his new album 'Justice', but he has also come in for criticism over his use of snippets from two Martin Luther King Jr. speeches on the album. One of them opens the album, with the line "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere", and there is another 'MLK Interlude' midway through the tracklist.
Some people have an issue with the fact that although Bieber spoke about the album as a way to 'unite' people - as well as given it such a pointed title and using the MLK samples - it is essentially an album of love songs about his wife, with no tracks regarding social justice.
However, King's daughter Bernice has now spoken up in support of Bieber, commending his support of organisations that are fighting injustice:
It still doesn't quite explain the album's supposed themes, though...
