The trio still occasionally get together to jam, according to Smear
Even if you're not a fan of Foo Fighters, you have to appreciate Dave Grohl's ability to entertain in an interview.
Grohl and his bandmates are currently on the the promo trail for their new album 'Medicine at Midnight', and the other day they took part in an interview and performance for Howard Stern's SiriusXM show.
Needless to say, there were a few juicy stories in the mix, including one that he had mentioned several years ago - when he was stoned at a party at Paul McCartney's house, and didn't recognise his own song 'Best of You' when Taylor Swift started playing it on the piano:
Foo Fighters guitarist Pat Smear also revealed that he and Grohl still occasionally get together to jam with their former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic. "If we're in the same town together, or whatever, we'll get together and jam," he said. "Last time, we did it at the house where we recorded the [Foo Fighters] album." Grohl added that they had even "recorded some stuff" but did not expand on what the recording was.
Last year, Smear and Grohl had teamed up with Novoselic (and Grohl's daughter Violet) for a charity gig.
The pair also admitted that they don't listen to Nirvana albums anymore because it's 'too painful', while Grohl says that his 11-year-old daughter Harper has recently discovered his former band, unprompted, and had asked questions about Kurt Cobain. "We were just driving around and 'Come As You Are' came on the radio," he said. "She started singing and she sang every word. I've never played her that record, we don't really talk about Nirvana. That, to me, feels good."
