The Swedish pop legends have also recorded new songs for the tour
It's been a while since we've heard news of ABBA's long-awaited avatar tour, and with everything going on in the world, you'd be forgiven for thinking that it had been nixed altogether.
News of the 'avatar tour' featuring holograms of one of pop music's most celebrated bands first broke several years ago, with various delays and setbacks pushing back their 'reunion' of-sorts since 2016.
However, it looks like things are gearing up as the Swedish band have been reportedly filming for the tour in Ealing Studios in London.
The new plan is for the band to launch their avatar tour as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations in 2022.
The Sun report an insider as saying: "ABBA have kept everything about their reunion shrouded in mystery but this has really been a long time coming.
"They announced the tour in 2016 and although it's been a slog to get to this point, it is now full steam ahead and the show is taking shape. Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and Frida have all recorded bits and pieces and they have enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane with it all.
"They are all getting a nice cheque out of it, so it will be worthwhile, but they've got more than enough money from their music, so it's not about that. All four of them just wanted to give back to their fans, so they have done everything in their power to fly into London for the filming, despite the travel restrictions."
Earlier this year, Bjorn Ulvaeus reportedly told a journalist that they had recorded five new songs in 2018 and planned to release them next year. The titles of two - 'I Still Have Faith in You' and 'Don't Shut Me Down' - have leaked.
