UPDATE:

You can now watch the promo and a clip of Ford from the ceremony below.

Once George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney back in 2012 it was inevitable that Disney were going to maximize the earning potential from their new golden egg as much as they possibly could.

Hence the decision to release a new Star Wars movie every year for the foreseeable future. Of course when it comes to a franchise like Star Wars, box office gross from the movies is just the tip of the iceberg. Merchandising is where the real profits will be made. Thus Disney have gone full steam ahead with their plans for a Star Wars expansion to both the Disneyland Park in California and Walt Disney World in Florida.

There was a Disneyland at 60 TV special on Sunday night to celebrate the birth of Walt Disney's first park and executives saw it as the perfect opportunity to show off their plans. Of course when you're announcing something like this you have to make sure to bring out the big guns. Enter Harrison Ford and BB-8.

“Star Wars is, for lack of a better word … awesome,” the actor said in his introduction. “I’m so blessed that I had the opportunity to be a part of it. To walk in these iconic locations. And soon, you’ll be able to do that as well. Not in a galaxy far, far away, but in a place close to home.”

Attractions that will feature in the park include a virtual reality simulator that will allow users to take control of the Millennium Falcon during a space dog fight with The First Order.

You can see some concept art of the park below. A video promo is expected to be released online soon.
