Who knew Topher Grace AKA Foreman from 'That '70s Show' was able to edit together a cool trailer? (We did.)
If you didn't already know, Topher Grace likes to re-edit movies in his spare time as a way of keeping himself occupied between acting jobs.
No, really. In fact, he does it to get out of difficult headspaces for movies he's doing. For example, after playing former KKK leader David Duke in Spike Lee's 'Blackkklansman', Topher Grace cut together the three 'Hobbit' movies into one, two-hour movie, which we're told is pretty decent. His most famous creation - and one that nobody's (ahem) seen legally - is his re-cut of the 'Star Wars' prequels into one movie.
'Episode III.5 - The Editor Strikes Back' was an 85-minute cut of all three prequels - that's 'The Phantom Menace', 'Attack of the Clones' and 'Revenge of the Sith' - that he showed to less than 50 people, many of whom attested to how much better the movies flowed when cut this way.
As mentioned, no copy of the movie exists online - primarily because of copyright issues - but Topher Grace has just recently uploaded something pretty special. 'Star Wars: Always' is a five-minute trailer of the entire franchise, from 'The Phantom Menace', through to 'Rogue One' and 'Solo', and beyond up to 'The Last Jedi'.
It's not a chronological edit, as such, but rather an introduction for each of the major characters in the franchise. Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker - their stories arc and weave through the trailer, and you also get a good idea of how many parallels there are between the original trilogy and the more recent sequels.
It's a really well-made trailer, and you've got to wonder why Disney and Lucasfilm haven't tried to get him involved in some way - even if it just editing.
