He didn't drop any spoilers... yet
Comic book and superhero fans the world over are counting down the days until the next 'Spider-Man' feature hits cinemas - because it's going to be a pretty ambitious task.
Stitching together various Spider-Man strands from the past, the third 'Spider-Man' movie with Tom Holland at the driving seat promises to be something we've never seen before.
When news broke late last year about the casting of the as-yet-untitled 'Spider-Man 3' film, the internet went wild.
Not only are past Spideys Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning, with Kirsten Dunst's Mary Jane Watson and Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy too, there will also be Alfred Molina's Doc Oc and Jamie Foxx's Electro. Charlie Cox's Daredevil was also spotted on the set of the film, which began production before Christmas. It's safe to say that we can expect plenty more surprise appearances that are being kept safely under wraps.
Benedict Cumberbatch will also be appearing as Doctor Strange (probably a big clue that it'll be he who brings all these blasts from the past onto screen - or, he'll be tasked with remedying this timeline cross-over, at least).
In a recent appearance on Variety's podcast, ahead of his Apple TV+ release 'Cherry', Tom Holland spoke about how ambitious this movie will be. Asked about how much he could give fans, the actor teased: "Obviously, I can’t really say anything."
In the past, Holland has been notorious for letting slip key plot points in his previous Marvel movies, which spurred Variety to ask him: "You can tell us what happens at the end, right?"
Holland responded with: "[pauses] What’s funny is like, I nearly told you then. You were so close to getting what you want. I can say that it’s the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made.
"You sit down, read the script, and see what they’re trying to do, and they’re succeeding. It’s really impressive. I’ve never seen a standalone superhero movie quite like it. And I’m just, you know, again, that lucky little shit who happens to be Spider-Man in it.
"We got a lot more shooting to do. We started before Christmas and shot for like seven weeks. We stopped for the Christmas break, and then we’re starting again. I’m just as excited as everyone else to see it, let alone be a part of it."
Sony's third 'Spider-Man' offering with the English actor is currently slated for a December 17, 2021 release date.
