On the third episode of The Revisit, Nessa Childers MEP talks magic and pyschology in 'The Killing Of A Sacred Deer'
2017's 'The Killing Of A Sacred Deer' might seem like an odd choice for someone given the opportunity to talk about any movie.
For one, it's fairly recent. It received warm reviews on its release but didn't particularly set the box office on fire. Moreover, when discussing Yorgos Lanthimos' work, it's often eclipsed by the Oscar-winning 'The Favourite'.
Yet, for Nessa Childers MEP, the choice was obvious. Elected to the European Parliament since 2009, Nessa Childers is a career politician - but also once worked as a psychoanalyst. Something, she said, that informed her decision to pick 'The Killing Of A Sacred Deer'.
Not only that, the movie itself features an intriguing parallel with Greek mythology, human emotions such as guilt and vengeance, and all of it packaged in weird psychological horror with disturbing imagery and stilted, odd performances from Colin Farrell and Barry Keoghan.
The third episode of The Revisit is now available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher and all good podcast platforms.
