He'll join Michelle Williams in the movie
The Steven Spielberg semi-biographical film has cast two of its lead characters.
According to Deadline, Seth Rogen will join director Steven Spielberg's next movie venture as his "favourite uncle". Rogen is the second actor announced as being related to the movie, with Michelle Williams previously cast as Spielberg's mother, Leah Adler.
The film, which does not yet have a title, is loosely based on the acclaimed director’s childhood in Arizona, where he grew up. No other cast has been announced yet, and the search is underway as to who will play a young version of the future Hollywood director.
The 74-year-old director has a seemingly endless number of projects on the go at the moment, but this latest venture will be the first time since 2001's 'A.I.' where he will take up screenwriting duties. It makes sense, since it's a movie about his life.
Tony Kushner from 'Lincoln' will be co-writer on the project. Principle filming is due to start this summer, with a release date of 2022.
Spielberg worked with Kushner most recently on his upcoming 'West Side Story' remake, which is due for release this December. Spielberg has worked as executive producer on some quite exciting releases over the next year or so, including 'Jurassic World: Dominion', the 'Halo' TV series, an 'Indiana Jones' sequel movie, and not forgetting 'Gremlins 3'.
Seth Rogen on the other hand - has also been a very busy man. Apart from this recent announcement, the actor has favoured producing and writing on his latest projects. As well as executive producing 'Preacher' and Amazon Prime's highly-acclaimed action/dramedy 'The Boys', his upcoming work includes producing the next 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' CGI reboot and also the docuseries 'Console Wars' which will centre on SEGA and their once-rival video games company, Nintendo.
