Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are all back
The trailer for the fifth installment of the 'Scream' franchise has arrived. Fans should be delighted to see some familiar faces.
Going back to basics, the horror movie is simply titled 'Scream'.
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett take over from Wes Craven (who helmed the first four movies of the franchise) as the directors.
They previously worked on 'Ready or Not', 'Devil's Due', Southbound' and 'V/H/S' together.
The official plot synopsis reads: "Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past."
'Scream' franchise regulars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette return as Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers ands Dewey Riley, respectively.
New to the cast are Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar.
The movie marks a relaunch of the franchise but is also a direct sequel to 2011's 'Scream 4'.
The first installment in the slasher series hit cinemas back in December 2020.
It was the highest-grossing slasher film in the world until the release of 'Halloween' in 2018.
'Scream' will spook its way into theatres on January 14, 2022.
