He looks so happy to be playing Ken
The blockbuster that everyone's talking about is still over a year away from release, but doesn't make us any less excited about hearing more tidbits of information about the production.
Unless you've been living under a rock these past few weeks, chances are you've seen those pictures and videos of Ryan Gosling as Ken in the 'Barbie' movie. Starring opposite Margot Robbie's titular Mattel creation, from what we've seen of the production so far, we're going to be getting one seriously camp movie debut from the dolls. And we are here for it.
Anyway, this film has a release date of July 21, 2023, so we've got quite a long wait ahead of ourselves, unfortunately. There is, however, another Gosling production hitting our screens relatively soon, with Netflix's 'The Gray Man' hitting cinemas and the streaming service this month.
As part of the press tour for the action film, which also stars Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Regé-Jean Page, Jessica Henwick and Dhanush, Gosling was cornered and asked some brief questions about his arguably more exciting release next year.
Asked by Variety how it felt for him to see his wardrobe for the first time, to see the concept for his hair, Gosling didn't sugarcoat his response. He said with a big smile across his face: "Finally. Finally, it’s happening. This has been coming my whole life.
"I felt seen. I felt like I was seeing myself, I felt seen. I think a lot of Kens will feel seen when they see this. Gotta do it for the Kens. Nobody plays with the Kens."
Ryan Gosling as Ken and Margot Robbie as Barbie are just two of the big names attached to the next film from Greta Gerwig. Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, Emma Mackey, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Ritu Arya, Michael Cera and more are all lined up for roles in the production.
