Woooow

The actor is continuing his relationship with Disney, following his appearance in Marvel's 'Loki' TV series.

Owen Wilson has been added to the cast of 'Haunted Mansion'. The family adventure is based on the Disney Theme Parks ride of the same name whereby visitors take a train ride through a spooky house.

Owen will be getting his spook on with the previously cast actors of the movie, Tiffany Haddish ('Night School') and LaKeith Stanfield ('Sorry To Bother You'). The movie is set to feature an ensemble cast, so expect some more names to be added to the roster in the coming months.

'Haunted Mansion' was announced back in July with director Justin Simien (Netflix's 'Dear White People') on board to helm the project, and Katie Dippold ('The Heat', 'Ghostbusters') on board as the screenwriter. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich from Disney's live-action 'Aladdin' will produce.

Owen Wilson will begin shooting 'Haunted Mansion' this October in Atlanta. No story details are known except that the premise will follow a family (Tiffany Haddish and LaKeith Stanfield) who move into the titular house as their new home. Perhaps Owen will be playing one of the spooks who goes bump in the night? We'll have to wait and see.

This is a reboot of the Eddie Murphy movie from 2003. The family adventure was indeed not much of a hit with critics or audiences, awarded a stinker of 14% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Disney is likely hoping their fresh take will right the wrongs of this previous release.

The House of Mouse is continuing to ride their theme park adaptation wave following the success of their summer blockbuster 'Jungle Cruise' starring Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson (which already has a sequel in the pipeline). There was also a 'Tower of Terror' movie in development at the production company, but following the Scarlett Johansson lawsuit (the actor was to star and produce), the title has been placed on hold for now.

Owen Wilson has enjoyed a close relationship with Disney ever since voicing Lightning McQueen in the 'Cars' franchise. More recently, he played Agent Morbius in the 'Loki' Disney+ series with Tom Hiddleston, which is also getting a second season.
