Melissa McCarthy is hot property right now. Fresh of off an Emmy win for Mike and Molly, she's just sold another script, which she intends to star in.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, McCarthy has penned the script, Tammy; the story of a woman who recently finds out her husband has been cheating on her and then loses her job. She (somewhat inexplicably at this point) embarks on a road trip with her geriatric, foul-mouthed grandmother. Betty White's heartbeat just went up to 11...

No director or other names are at this point attached, but New Line have purchased the script and are apparently keen on moving ahead with it quickly. McCarthy was very sweet when I met her for Bridesmaids, and remarked on how female led comedies were now getting a chance because of the success of Bridesmaids. She's just sold another script to Paramount about ice-hockey and has set up a new show at CBS - the home of Molly.
