Chad Stahelski clarified his comments on a fourth 'Matrix' movie today.

After initial reports claimed that the Wachowskis were beginning work on a fourth 'Matrix' movie, there now appears to be some confusion on the matter.

First, Chad Stahelski - the director of 'John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum' - made the comments in an interview with Yahoo! Movies UK, which were then picked up by... well, everyone.

In that interview, Stahelski - who was a stunt coordinator on the original 'Matrix' trilogy - apparently said that he'd "super happy that the Wachowskis are not just doing a Matrix, but they’re expanding what we all loved. And if it’s anywhere near the level of what they’ve already done, it wouldn’t take more than a call to go, ‘Hey, we want you to be a stunt guy’ and I would probably go and get hit by a car."

A day later, Stahelski then clarified his comments to /Film and told them that they "were in response to a hypothetical scenario were (sic) the Wachowskis would be involved and he did not confirm them being attached to the new film."

You're probably wondering what the hell is going on now, right? Same here. Let's track this together, then. All of this kicked off about a year ago when it was reported that Warner Bros. wanted to continue 'The Matrix', but didn't want the Wachowskis involved in it.

The story was that Zak Penn, who previously adapted 'Ready Player One' and had a Story By credit on 'Avengers Assemble', was writing a new screenplay that would be a continuation of 'The Matrix'. As recently as yesterday, Penn confirmed that his script was still on the table and said that he wasn't going to comment, "except to say it's all possible."

Was this a reference to the Wachowskis returning? Or was it just that a fourth 'Matrix' movie might actually happen? Keanu Reeves, for what it's worth, said he'd only do it if the Wachowskis were involved and, to be fair, that makes sense as they were the people who started it all.

For now, let's all remind ourselves how good the first one was with this little moment.
