It's really FINALLY happening
Eddie Murphy has offered an update on a much anticipated sequel - 'Beverly Hills Cop 4'.
The news comes off the back of the upcoming release of another Eddie Murphy movie sequel, 'Coming 2 America' (arriving on Amazon Prime this Friday).
Murphy debuted the sharp and fast-talking detective Axel Foley in 1984's 'Beverly Hills Cop.'
A sequel followed in 1987 and there was another in 1994.
According to reports, this latest installment is going to Netflix.
Speaking with Digital Spy, Murphy said that "right now, they are writing a script."
He also said: "We don't have a start date, but we have directors and we have producers – and we have writers working on it. Axel Foley is ready to go. All we need is a script."
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who successfully revived the Bad Boys series with 'Bad Boys for Life', will direct.
Eddie Murphy added: "We've been trying to do 'Beverly Hills Cop 4' for over 10 years and this is the closest we've got to it.
"We have directors who are smart and ready to go – and we have great ideas.
"It also looks like we've got the original producer who produced the original 'Beverly Hills Cop' – Jerry Bruckheimer – involved again too.
"He's actually the person who brought these two directors to the movie. I feel like we're on the right track now. We're nearly there."
As for 'Triplets', the sequel to 'Twins', starring Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger, which Murphy was set to join them for, that project is further out.
"We're really, really far away from Triplets," Murphy said.
"My next movie is going to be 'Beverly Hills Cop 4' more than likely, but 'Triplets' is really, really far away."
