Based on the bestselling novel
Since skyrocketing to fame from her part in 'Normal People', Daisy Edgar-Jones has been a sought after name for upcoming projects.
In another adaptation of a best-selling novel, Edgar Jones will play Catherine "Kya" Clarke in the upcoming movie 'Where the Crawdads Sing'.
Based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Delia Owens, 'Where the Crawdads Sing' tells the story of Kya, an abandoned girl who raised herself to adulthood in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumours of the "Marsh Girl" haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community.
Drawn to two young men from town, Kya opens herself to a new and startling world; but when one of them is found dead, she is immediately cast by the community as the main suspect.
As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what actually happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal the many secrets that lay within the marsh.
The book topped The New York Times Fiction Best Sellers of 2019 and 2020 for a combined 32 non-consecutive weeks. As of late February 2022, the book had spent 150 weeks on the best seller list.
In addition to Edgar-Jones, Harris Dickinson stars as Kya's friend Tate and Taylor John Smith as Chase, the murdered ex-lover. The cast also includes David Strathairn, Garret Dillahunt, Ahna O’Reilly and Michael Hyatt.
Olivia Newman directs. Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter are producing via their banner Hello Sunshine for 3000 Pictures. Taylor Swift also composed a new original song called 'Carolina' for the film.
Edgar-Jones currently stars in 'Fresh' alongside Sebastian Stan on Disney+.
'Where the Crawdads Sing' is set to release in cinemas this July.
