The pair sat down to discuss their work this year, and lots more besides
We already knew that Jamie Lee Curtis is a big fan of Ireland, considering her most recent trip here to promote 'Halloween Ends'.
The Hollywood star's promo tactics for that film involved standing in front of a billboard on Grafton Street and stopping middle-aged mammies for a chat. Standard.
Now, Variety have thrown Curtis and our own Colin Farrell together for an chat in their 'Actors on Actors' series, which sees them discuss Ireland, Farrell's role in 'The Banshees of Inisherin', Curtis's role in 'Everything Everywhere All at Once', their respective legacies as actors, and rather interestingly, their ongoing sobriety.
Curtis begins by saying "Ireland is an incredibly friendly country", which sends Farrell on a misty-eyed recollection of his homeland. "It’s amazing," he says."I’ve lived here in Los Angeles for 16, 17 years now. I’m raising my two sons here. L.A. means more to me than I thought this city ever would. But when I go home, it makes sense to me in a way that no other place would have the business making sense to me. If I’m in Los Angeles and I say, “I’m going home,” I drop it about two octaves. That place is deeper in me."
Curtis also said that despite her film career, sobriety is the most enduring legacy in her life. "Being sober is going to be a legacy, for sure. Because I’m stopping what has been a generational issue in my biological family," she said. "It’ll be the single greatest thing I do, if I can stay sober. Because generations of people have had their lives ruled and ruined by alcoholism and drug addiction. For me, sobriety first. Always."
Farrell also talks about his role as The Penguin in 'The Batman', and says that he plans to start shooting the TV spin-off series 'around February or March.'
