So, Link can turn into water now?
The newest Nintendo Direct offered up plenty of new game announcements for Nintendo fans.
Last night, Nintendo Direct's E3 presentation was easily its best in a very long time. Not only was 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' sequel given a teaser trailer, we also got a whole raft of exclusive games which are in the pipeline over the coming year.
The biggest announcement was of course the newest Zelda game. It's been a long time since we've been had any new information on the sequel to the 2017 open world video game, but now we finally have a 2022 release window. Finger's crossed for an early 2022 release.
In the teaser trailer below, we see Link skydive down through the clouds of Hyrule, giving off strong 'Skyward Sword' vibes. We can also see that his Sheikah Slate has been given an upgrade - or he's found some other new technology (a mysterious blue glove) - which now allows him to shoot fire and to climb through rock. This one, in particular, will come in handy for all of that climbing we have to do.
No plot details have been revealed for the 'Breath of the Wild' sequel yet, so expect more information in the build-up to its release next year.
Other Nintendo games announced during the Nintendo Direct yesterday were a new 'Metroid' side-scroller 'Metroid Dread'; a new 'Mario Party' sequel 'Mary Party Superstars' which includes a throwback to the Nintendo 64 era of the party games; a sequel to Ubisoft's crossover game entitled 'Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope'; a new Wario game 'WarioWare: Get It Together!'; 'Marvel's Guardians of Galaxy' is also coming to Switch as a Cloud version; and finally, 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' is adding Kayuza from the 'Tekken' franchise as a downloadable character.
Here's the full 40 minute presentation in case you missed it.
