Last week, Kilkenny Tourism hosted a tourism showcase event in Medley, Dublin.
The event was called 360 Degrees of Kilkenny and offered a fabulous taster of everything Kilkenny has to offer. From food and drink to music and hurling, guests were treated to an event which truly represented the diversity and uniqueness of tourism in Kilkenny.
The event was opened by renowned celebrity chef Edward Hayden, who set the tone for the rest of the evening perfectly. Guests experienced a fabulous tasting menu from some of the finest local Kilkenny food producers, including Mooncoin Beetroot; Goatsbridge Trout; Kilkenny Rose Veal and Cakeface Patisserie to name but a few. Kilkenny based distillers and brewers Highbank Orchard; Ballykeefe Distillers and Costello’s provided samples of their finest products for guests to enjoy.
As if that wasn’t enough, guests were entertained by Michael Conway from the renowned Hole in the Wall pub on the Medieval Mile. He first recounted a story of Kilkenny’s past and history, then performed a song accompanied by two beautiful singers.
The guests’ hurling skills were then put to the test by Kilkenny’s own All Ireland hurler Richie Hogan and Fred Malzard from Malzard’s Hurling Experience. Spot prizes on the evening included weekends away, handcrafted rug, and hampers.
Commenting at the event Naoise Nunn, Chairperson, Kilkenny Tourism said; “It is a great pleasure for Kilkenny Tourism to host this event this evening. We are extremely proud of what we have to offer tourists in Kilkenny. We are in a truly unique position with unrivalled food products; hosts to some of Ireland’s most prestigious festivals, not to mention a thriving craft and artisan community and a host of tourist attractions across the county.
It was an event not to be missed.
