It's been announced today that Pat Kenny and UTV Ireland have parted company.
Kenny's flagship interview programme, In The Round, was cancelled after one season with the show receiving varying ratings throughout its short-lived run. A statement by Kenny today confirmed that he "very much enjoyed working on the In The Round series earlier in the year, but was now preparing for a very busy pre-election period ahead on radio with Newstalk, and looking forward to new challenges for the 2016 season on the TV front."
UTV Ireland announced earlier in the year that both they and Kenny were hoping to work together again, if "suitable opportunities" arose for them both.
It remains to be seen what happens next for both UTV Ireland, who are in the process of selling up to ITV, and Kenny, who's facing stiff competition with his slot on Newstalk.
