Apologies for our dodgy headline, we couldn't resist. Director, producer and writer Judd Apathow is responsible for the likes of The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up in movie land, as well as Freaks and Geaks and producing Lena Dunham's Girls in TV world. And now he has teamed up with Netflix for a new half-hour comedy series called 'Love'.

It will be produced by Apatow Productions and Legendary Television, and created and written by Apatow, Rust and Arfin (Brooklyn 99, Girls) while Brent Forrester (The Office (US), The Simpsons) will executive produce.

The show is set to be 'an unflinching, hilarious and excruciatingly honest take on modern relationships'. It will follow two main characters, Gus (Paul Rust) and Mickey (Gillian Jacobs) 'as they navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, and other things they were hoping to avoid.'

Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said; "Judd Apatow has a unique comic voice that manages to be delightful, insightful, and shockingly frank – often at the same time. Together with Paul and Lesley, he’s bringing a whole new level of agony and ecstasy to this modern day comedy of manners."

Apatow himself has said; "I am so excited to get to work with Paul and Lesley on this project. Netflix has been supportive in ways I couldn’t create in my wildest fever dreams."

Two seasons have already been commissioned by the streaming service although we will have to wait a bit longer to see the fruits of their labour, as the first season won't debut until 2016 with ten episodes.

Exciting stuff though, and considering the comedy heavy weights behind it, no doubt it will be worth the wait.
