Agents of SHIELD, the new TV series from Marvel, debuted on American TV last night. No word as yet on ratings, but judging by the Twitter and fansite reaction, it went down a treat. Cobie Smulders, who played Maria Hill in The Avengers, had a small cameo in the pilot where she reprised her role from the summer blockbuster. We haven't had a chance to see Agents of SHIELD yet and we're not sure, as yet, what TV station will be picking it up for brodcast here in Ireland.

Speaking to THR, Smulders said that she's open to joining the cast full-time. How I Met Your Mother is heading into its final season and that, for the time being, that's taking up her energy. She's also mentioned that she's keen to move into film and theatre and is planning to move to New York. This, however, would potentially put the kybosh on her joining Agents of SHIELD full-time as the show is filmed in Los Angeles.

The show's pilot episode was directed by Joss Whedon and his brother, Jed Whedon, will be looking after production of the show. It looks to be a strong contender in the coming TV season and hopefully won't go the way of Dollhouse or... *sniffle*... Firefly. Damn we miss that show.
