Move over Michael Owen, there's a new former football hero heading for the telly box, and sure hasn't got golden balls to boot?

David Beckham will be sharing his sporting skills with the next generation when he joins a new Saturday morning programme, aimed at encouraging Britain's youngsters to get into sport. He'll be teaming up with the likes of Olympic athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill for new Sky Sports show Game Changers, which debuts on August 17th.

"It's an ambition of mine to inspire more young people to take part in sport" Beckham told The Sun. "I'm excited to be one of a great group of athletes contributing to Game Changers and working with Sky, who have the passion to make it happen."

Sprinting star Darren Campbell and presenter Di Dougherty will host the series, with Paralympic wheelchair rugby captain Steve Brown acting as a reporter. Plus, there'll be appearances from some surprise sporting guests too.

Sounds good to us Becks, but sure it'll be no Hero To Zero. We can't understand why anyone would cancel should a compelling drama: Sure don't we all need a little more Michael Owen in our lives?
