Is it just us or has it been a very busy week for Benedict Cumberbatch? If he wasn't doing a Sherlock read through he was spilling the beans on Season 4, and now he's even found the time to do a new documentary with the likes of Jim Carrey, Buzz Aldrin, Sir Richard Branson and renound physicist Roger Penrose.

Hawking is a brand new offering from Channel 4, which will explore the life story of the world's most famous physicist. The Radio Times says it will actually be heading to cinemas before it hits our TV screens, and aims to takes us through Stephen Hawking's life, from his days as an underachiever to his rise to glory as a celebrated scientific genius.

Cumberbatch played Hawking back in 2004, and even nabbed himself a BAFTA nomination for his performance, plus he narrated Stephen's three-part documentary series Grand Design last year. That's why he's been asked to join the ranks of famous faces who will speak about the physicist for the project. And of course Stephen will be on hand to contribute himself, telling his story in his own words alongside his ex-wife Jane and his sister Mary.

"In this film he tells us the story of his life - making it the definitive film about Hawking. He does it in a rather understated, modest, British way - which makes it all the more moving. I think it’s a film that people will still be watching a hundred years from now", said Channel 4's Senior Commissioning Editor David Glover.

Still no word on when it will be finished, but it's definitely one to watch out for. And if you missed Hawking back in 2004, be sure to check out the clip below...
