Those of you who follow Coronation Street will know of the harrowing child grooming storyline that is taking place at the moment for Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon).

Actor Chris Harper, who plays Nathan, was on Loose Women today to talk about what it is like to play one of soap's most hated characters but also how important he felt the storyline was for those who have gone through it.

"The bravery of people who come forward and tell the law cannot be underestimated," Chris said.

"It's been tricky filming it and the writing has been exemplary right from the word go. They have really cared about Bethany and about where her journey is going, and also about survivors and victims themselves and really wanting to get this story right for them.

"No matter how tricky some of the filming has been, the crew have been incredible and we've always kept in mind that people have been through this themselves."

Harper added that he knew going into the role the weight of responsibility he bore: "I was talking to my wife during the prep and audition process and she said it would be very important and it's an issue that matters to both of us already, so being part of this is a privilege."

Viewers will be happy to know that Nathan will soon get his comeuppance and it will lead to Bethany going on a "very brave journey", Harper said.
