We mentioned yesterday that we thought the "Jamie Dornan pulls out of Fifty Shades sequels" stories floating around were a pile of crap. And now one of his reps has released a statement confirming that.

Jamie is delighted that the film is breaking box office records worldwide and whilst the studio has not made any formal announcements about sequels, he is looking forward to making the next film.”

So what's probably happening is Universal Pictures are attempting to find another director and/or sorting out who will write the next film, Fifty Shades Darker, before confirming when it will go ahead.

While the last film is making money, it's also trailing off and wasn't as well received by core fans as say the Twilight series. Speaking of which, in our opinion, Dornan should look to someone like Robert Pattinson as a benchmark. While he was headlining that franchise and the subject of a million Gossip stories, he kept his head down and simply tried to find work that challenged him. We're sure the talented Dornan is doing the same, anyway, but it's worth noting - it's working for Pattinson.

Also, get Paul Verhoeven to direct the next one. At least it'll be mental as well as bad, then. Or, if they're reaching for credibility, Mary Harron did an incredible job with difficult, if far better material, when she made American Psycho.
