Relationships have bench marks, points at which a couple is more likely to split. If you make it past the first two weeks (that's when you'll most likely meet them sober for the first time), then law of averages say you'll stay together until 3 months ("So, they're all the moves then, yeah? And that thing you do with the thing, please stop doing that").

If you survive the 3 month mark, generally it then goes 6 months ("That thing they started doing at 3 months is REALLY starting to get on my wick"), 18 months ("I'm not sure I want to take it to 'the next level'"), 2 years ("I don't want to move in with you, please stop asking me") 5 years ("STOP. TALKING. ABOUT. BABIES"), 7 years (Christ, it's been 7 years, everyone else is so attractive right now and I'm not getting any younger) and so on.

For Taylor Swift, her dumpable benchmark is 2 months. OK, correction, Joe Jonas endured their relationship for 3 months back in 2008, but since then it's been 8 weeks all the way. She dated Taylor Lautner, who she met on the set of Valentine's Day, for 2 months in 2009. John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, and more recently Conor Kennedy - all two months. Harry Styles, two months. I'm sure some/all of the aforementioned have similar track records, but it's not as well documented.

So what's the story? Apparently Taylor is "too demanding". While she was the one who engineered the split with harry, he had reportedly become fed-up with her constant questioning about his womanising reputation.

A source told the Daily Mirror: "Harry and Taylor had an incredibly intense relationship, and really did care strongly about one another. Sadly it fizzled out just as quickly, and came to a head following a series of angry spats on holiday. Harry felt Taylor was nagging him, quizzing him on his intentions with various women and generally having very little faith in him. It all became too much and Harry found her a little too demanding. Taylor prob-ably engineered the split but Harry held all the cards in the relationship."

However, sources close to Harry - who was "comforted by another girl just 24 hours after being dumped by Taylor" (that's what the papers want you to think. Really it's just some British bird with a reality TV show who's trying to crack America thanks to her millionaire brother) - have not ruled at a reconciliation once they have spent some time away from each other."

One added: "They're having a break for the moment to cool off. But who knows what the future holds? They're both young and hugely successful, with the world at their feet." And therefore options. For folk in such positions there's always options. And I'm sure there are quite a few females out there with a bit more faith in themselves - and who won't give him sh*t for fraternizing with fans (she thinks its cheap), and constantly remind him that he's lucky to have her). Then again, they've not all subjected themselves to John Mayer.
