Mia Goth chats to Brian Lloyd about returning for a third movie in Ti West's 'X' Franchise.
In 'MaXXXine', British actress Mia Goth plays an adult film star and aspiring actress, Maxine Minx, who finally gets her big break. However, as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Los Angeles, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.
'MaXXXine' is part of the 'X' film series with previous movies 'X' and its prequel 'Pearl'. Mia tells Brian how working on this franchise has been "the most creatively fulfilling experience" of her life.
Goth reveals that in preparation for her role, she befriended a stripper and found herself in an 'Eyes Wide Shut' style party in New York. "I would get to know her and ask questions," Mia says. "That was really helpful. She would then take me to these events. One in particular was a crazy party in New York - it felt very much like 'Eyes Wide Shut'. I don't know how I got in but I was there with her. I was just kind of in the corner witnessing everything. Once I felt like I got enough information I went away because it was quite intense!
"But with the stripper, I got a lot of information, she was very helpful. I always try to do something like that with my roles. Just to know that I have done everything that I can to honour what's on the page as much as possible."
Mia also tells Brian why she is so drawn to horror and how she finds the genre has much meatier roles for women; "There's just so much to do in this genre, I don't want to just be a witness in a movie and watch the male actor do everything and be his sidekick, that doesn't interest me at all.
"I want to be in the middle of it all, exploring it all. I find in horror there is a lot of opportunity for that."
'MaXXXine' is in cinemas on July 5th.
