It might have been easy to miss this among all the noise associated with the ongoing Garth Brooks / Croke Park situation but the country music legend has announced a brand new album, as well as a forthcoming world tour. The majority of the press conference was dominated by Irish journalists attempting to get quotes about the possibility of the Croke Park concerts going ahead (we're still none the wiser, by the way) but Garth's press officer was clearly very keen in keeping the occasion from being dominated by Croker questions.
Some of the information was kept quite vague by Brooks but we gleaned that he will release a record of new material on Sony Music's RCA Records and will be released in November.
Brooks, now 52-years-old, also confirmed a world tour is on the agenda and more details on this will be released on July 14th when Garth personally tells a fan who attended one of this last Las Vegas shows. Brooks said the fan, whose name is Andy, can choose how he would like to release the information.
"Our job is to go out there and fly the flag for country music," Brooks said during the conference. He added: "I've seen the world tour stage. It's phenomenal."
But, with debates still going back and forth, we're still some bit away from that final bit of closure needed for Garth's proposed Croke Park gigs.
