Well, bound to happen, innit... If Beyonce can do it, and Taylor can do it, why can't Adele? Seemingly, if Spotify want Adele's album, they're going to have to adhere to her demands.
The Verge are reporting that: "Adele and her team have been pushing Spotify to limit the release of her third album, 25, to paid subscribers only, which would shrink the availability of the album to around 20 million of the streaming service’s 75 million total users, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Spotify has resisted the proposal and has yet to find out if 25 will be available to stream on the platform. Spotify denies this is the case. In a statement to The Verge, a senior executive at Spotify said 'It is categorically untrue that anyone has asked us to feature Adele’s new album on premium only'."

Seemingly Adele also pushed for her 2011 album 21 to be made available to paid subscribers, but allegedly had to back down as she hadn't won all the Grammies in the world at that point. Now it seems to be a case of Spotify needing Adele more than the other way around. And, if the rumours are true about Coldplay withholding their new album, A Head Full of Dreams (due for release on December 4th) from the service, Spotify may have to reassess their business model for mega artists - or find themselves in an increasingly tight, eh, spot.
The Verge also report that "Adele's manager declined to comment. Spotify and Apple did not respond to requests for comment." Seemingly Apple Music is "likely to have 25 within a few weeks of its release."
