Fresh from their Longitude set at the weekend, Wild Beasts are among a new wave of acts announced for the first Sounds from a Safe Harbour festival in Cork this September 17th - 20th.
If you'll remember, the festival is being curated by Bryce Dessner from The National and has already lined up acts such as The Gloaming, Aaron Dessner & Lisa Hannigan, Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire) and more.
New additions include Wild Beasts, who will headline the Cork Opera House on September 20th, and a music trail curated by blogger Nialler9 that will include up-and-coming artists like Slow Skies, I Am the Cosmos, Bantum, Talos and more playing intimate venues around the city.
The Soundings podcast - hosted by Lisa Hannigan and Dylan Haskins - will also play a part in the festival as the pair will host themed talks with some of the artists on the bill, including both Dessner brothers and their sister Jessica, who is an artist and poet.
There will also be a strong food-themed section of the programme with Cork chef Rocketman holding his own at Cork's Bonded Warehouse; the work of Hiroshi Sugimoto and Matthew Ritchie will be exhibited at The Glucksman, while a gig featuring the Cork Concert Orchestra with This is the Kit, Mina Tindle, Amiina, James McVinnie, My Brightest Diamond, Donal Dineen, Eat My Noise, Ailbhe ni Bhrian, Nadia Sirota,Valgeir Sigurðsson, Linda and Irene Buckley, Ragnar Kjartansson, Kjartan Sveinsson, Skúli Sverrisson and Julianna Barwick is also lined up.
