As you may have already heard by now, Sam Smith won the Oscar for Best Original Song last night, with trippy visuals accompanying his performance of his Bond theme 'Writing's on the Wall'.
The Londoner dedicated his award to the LGBT community, saying "I read an article that said no openly gay man had ever won an Oscar, and if this is the case, I want to dedicate this to the LGBT community all around the world. "I stand here tonight as a proud gay man and I hope we can all stand together as equals one day."
Not every Best Original Song nominee performed - Anohni boycotted the ceremony after she was not asked - but the musical performances on the night also included Dave Grohl playing 'Blackbird' over the 'In Memoriam' section, Lady Gaga's 'It Could Happen to You' and a theatrical performance of The Weeknd's 'Earned It'.
