So how is it, then, that it also works so well with Carly Rae Jepsen's teeny-bopper hit Call Me Maybe? Was the 2012 hit in actuality a satire of toxic masculinity and the affectations women place on themselves in heteronormative relationships? Was the 'maybe' in reality a commentary of consent in the modern age?
