No official confirmation has been made as of yet but several people who knew him have been paying tribute on social media.
Former Primal Scream guitarist Robert 'Throb' Young has reportedly passed away. Young was central to some of the band's most important work, including 1991's 'Screamadelica' and 2000's 'XTRMNTR'.
Young opted to leave the band in 2006.
Several members of the UK music scene have taken to Twitter to voice their sadness at the loss of Young, former Oasis members Liam Gallagher and Paul Arthurs (Bonehead) among them.
Gallagher tweeted: "RIP Robert Young AKA 'Throb'. Live Forever LG x", while Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh said: "RIP Robert Young. One of the best, the most beautiful who WAS rock n roll. Big love bro, give them it big time over the other side."
