2015 has been a big year for big, established artists who have either released a new album this year, or continued to reap the benefits of an album released in 2014 with massive tours.
As such, Spotify have released a list of their most-streamed artists and tracks of 2015.
With no Adele on the list - '25' is not available on streaming services, remember - a number of old favourites crop up, including Ed Sheeran (who appears on every list mentioned by Spotify ever), who tops the UK's most-streamed artists list.
However, as huge as Sheeran may be, he was pipped to the top spot by Drake in 2015; the Canadian hip-hop artist is the overall most-streamed male act on Spotify during 2015. Hotline Bling has a lot to answer for.
The top 5 male artists were:
1. Drake
2. Ed Sheeran
3. The Weeknd
4. Maroon 5
5. Kanye West
In terms of female artists, although she has not released an album in 2015, Rihanna came out on top.
The top 5 female artists were:
1. Rihanna
2. Ariana Grande
3. Nicki Minaj
4. Beyoncé
5. Ellie Goulding
The most streamed song of 2015 on Spotify - and in Spotify's history, actually - was Major Lazer's 'Lean On', featuring MØ and DJ Snake. It's been streamed a whopping 540 million times since its release in March.
The top 5 tracks were:
1. Major Lazer - 'Lean On' (feat. MØ & DJ Snake)
2. OMI - 'Cheerleader' (Felix Jaehn Remix)
3. Mark Ronson - 'Uptown Funk' (feat. Bruno Mars)
4. Wiz Khalifa - 'See You Again' (feat. Charlie Puth)
5. Ellie Goulding - 'Love Me Like You Do'
The most streamed album, on the other hand, saw Drake feature highly once again with 'If You're Reading This, It's Too Late' - but he didn't earn the top spot with it.
The top 5 albums were:
1. The Weeknd - 'Beauty Behind The Madness'
2. Drake - 'If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late'
3. Major Lazer - 'Peace Is The Mission'
4. Avicii - 'Stories'
5. Meghan Trainor - 'Title'
