Soul legend Bobby Womack has died at the age of 70 in as-yet unknown circumstances. The singer had recently announced he was cancer-free following treatment and played Arthur's Day in Dublin last year.
The singer began his career on Sam Cooke's label with his brother Harry. The group, known as the Valentinos, scored a minor hit with 'It's All Over Now' before going solo and releasing a string of successful albums.
His career flagged during the 1980's as he struggled with drug addiction. However, in 2012, he signed to indie label XL Recordings and recorded an album with Blur frontman Damon Albarn. He then later performed on the Gorillaz smash-hit, 'Stylo' and would tour with the band.
At the time of his death, Womack was working on the follow-up to his XL Recordings album and had planned to work with Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg and Rod Stewart.
