Matt Damon was one of the featured guests on Saturday Night Live last night and it wasn’t long before he was put to work. He joined regulars Aidy Bryant and Chris Redd in staging a fake hunt to find a new Oscars host after Kevin Hart bowed out.

Some of the celebrities who ‘auditioned’ were Tiffany Haddish, Michelle Wolf, Chris Hemsworth, Hannah Gadsby, Rami Malek, Michael Strahan, Rachel Brosnahan as Mrs. Maisel, Matthew McConaughey and Ellen DeGeneres, Sarah Silverman, Terry Crews, Kanye West and Allison Janney and even Roseanne Barr.

“The search for a new host begins. Who will risk everything for the chance to gain nothing,” the announcer says after reports that the gig is relatively low paid by Hollywood standards. Jimmy Kimmel reportedly earned €15,000 for his time in the hot seat.

Last night’s show also featured a welcome, brief appearance from comedian Pete Davidson who was the subject of concern earlier in the day.
