Last week, Bruce Springsteen made headlines globally when he cancelled a gig in North Carolina because of a new law that had been passed that is seen as discriminatory against the LGBT community.
The HB2 bill states that people should use public bathrooms according to their biological sex, not taking into account transgender people.
Now, former Beatle Ringo Starr has followed suit, also cancelling a gig that he was due to play in Cary, North Carolina in June.
He said in a statement: "I’m sorry to disappoint my fans in the area, but we need to take a stand against this hatred. Spread peace and love. How sad that they feel this group of people cannot be defended."
The two musicians' stance follows on from Bryan Adams, who also cancelled a gig in Biloxi, Mississippi due to take place today after a law was passed in that state that allows religious groups and private businesses to refuse to serve gay couples.
