If you thought you knew absolutely everything there was to know about The Beatles, there's one anecdote that's guaranteed to have passed you by.
In fact, quite why Paul McCartney is sharing this news with people now is a little baffling - it's not like he needs the publicity for his new album, 'Egypt Station', after all. (Wait... damn you, Macca.)
However, the former Beatle revealed in a new interview with GQ that as young men, he and John Lennon used to participate in... well, there's no other way to say this... group masturbation.
McCartney revealed that he and Lennon used to have gatherings with their friends where they'd all sit around in the dark, encourage each other to shout out names that would help them on their way, and do the deed.
"[I] was over at John's house, and it was just a group of us," he said. "And instead of just getting roaring drunk and partying—I don't even know if we were staying over or anything—we were all just in these chairs, and the lights were out, and somebody started masturbating, so we all did. We were just, 'Brigitte Bardot!' 'Whoo!', and then everyone would thrash a bit more."
He added that Lennon once killed the mood during one of these 'sessions' by shouting 'Winston Churchill!'. "I think it was a one-off," he added."Or maybe it was like a two-off. It wasn't a big thing. But, you know, it was just the kind of thing you didn't think much of. It was just a group. Yeah, it's quite raunchy when you think about it. There's so many things like that from when you're a kid that you look back on and you're, 'Did we do that?' But it was good harmless fun. It didn't hurt anyone. Not even Brigitte Bardot."
Well, it certainly gives 'Come Together' a new meaning...
