We wouldn't have considered him a prime candidate to voice a character on an animated children's TV show, but what do we know? Ozzy Osbourne will donate his vocal cords to Nickelodeon's Bubble Guppies where he'll play a character called Sid Fishy (see what they did there?) who, as per a report we saw on Rolling Stone today, is a "rock and roll fish who loves being rotten."
This will mark Ozzy's first significant return to television since the incredibly popular TV series The Osbournes filmed its last episode in 2005 and was drawn to the role because "I've always smelled a bit fishy". Sure you have, Ozzy.
As you can see from the image above (courtesy of Nickelodeon, by the way) Sid Fishy has some sort of backpack containing a green liquid which he presumably squirts at his foes.
"The green liquid is Sid Fishy's 'stink sauce", a Nickelodeon representative told Rolling Stone. "It is made up of different smells such as stinky socks and rotten eggs." Seems legit to us, anyway.
Ozzy maintains that he was drawn to the role at the behest of two-year old niece Pearl. "She has Nickelodeon on 24/7. I can't wait to see her reaction when she hears my voice come out of Sid Fishy's mouth."
Ozzy's appearance as Sid Fishy will likely be the second most famous encounter the Black Sabbath singer has had with marine animals. Tony Iommi, Ozzy's bandmate in Black Sabbath, once told a tale of how Ozzy once "hauled a shark through a window, dismembered it and soaked our room in blood."
Somehow we don't think that particular plot point will find its way into the show.
Oh, by the way, RuPaul is in the show too. She'll play a "charismatic snail". Right then.
