Blur's Damon Albarn has suggested that what he's heard of Adele's forthcoming album - set for release in November - is 'very middle of the road.'
Albarn made the comments in an interview with The Sun, saying that he had heard the tracks that she had worked on with producer Danger Mouse, aka Brian Burton. "It’s very middle of the road," he said.
Albarn had worked with Adele on five tracks on the follow-up to her globally successful album '21', but said that he didn't expect any of them to make the final tracklisting. "Adele asked me to work with her and I took the time out for her," he said. "And I’m not a producer, so … I don’t know what is happening really. Will she use any of the stuff? I don’t think so. Let’s wait and see. The thing is, she’s very insecure. And she doesn’t need to be, she’s still so young.”
It seems that the singer is rubbing a few people up the wrong way with this album - Phil Collins had previously called her a 'slippery little fish' after she had failed to respond to his communications, although it was later revealed that they were, in fact, working together on the record.
