After what seems like months of humming and hawing, U2 have finally set the record straight about their as-yet-untitled new album, indicating that it will indeed come out before the end of 2014.
There had been reports that members of the band had suggested pushing the release date back to allow more time to work with additional producers such as Paul Epworth, who lists Adele and Coldplay on his CV, but these reports have since been denied by a spokesperson for Bono and the rest of the band.
"We've always said an album is expected this year", said the spokesperson.
In fact, as per tweets from the Universal Music Venezuela and Universal Music Colombia Twitter accounts, the album could be released as early as September.
Earlier this year U2 debuted the song 'Invisible', which is understood to be the first taster from the record which will be released on Island Records - a label that Bono described as the band's "spiritual home".
