The Monkees are celebrating their 50th anniversary as a band by releasing a new album this summer.
The late Davy Jones and his bandmates released their first single 'Last Train to Clarksville' in 1966, but the three remaining members - Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork and Michael Nesmith - will release their first album of new material in almost 20 years this year. Jones passed away in 2012.
What's more, they've enlisted an all-star cast of songwriters to contribute to the tracklisting. Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo, Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard, Andy Partidge of XTC and more have all written for the album. It was produced by Fountains of Wayne frontman Adam Schlesinger.
It's called 'Good Times!' and is out on June 10th.
The album will also feature 'revisited' songs from sessions in the 1960s that were previously unused, some of them written by Harry Nilsson and Neil Diamond.
Tork (73) and Dolenz (70) will embark on a US tour over the summer, although there's no word on whether they'll visit Europe just yet.
