A new 'music, art and conversation' festival will arrive in Cork this September - and it's being curated by Bryce Dessner, guitarist with American rock band The National.
It's called Sounds from a Safe Harbour and will take place in various venues around Cork City from September 17th - 20th.
The focal point of the festival will be the airing of a new composition by Dessner and Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Parry called 'Wave Movements'. It'll be performed at Cork Opera House with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra, with visuals by Japanese photographer Hirosho Sugimoto.
There will also be a performance by The Gloaming on the programme, and a collaboration between Lisa Hannigan and Aaron Dessner - the twin brother and National bandmate of Bryce.
Other highlights include gigs by My Brightest Diamond; English organist James McVinnie; New York So Percussion and Nadia Sirota; Icelandic producer and composer Valgeir Sigurðsson with Icelandic compatriots Amiina, Ragnar Kjartansson, Kjartan Sveinsson and Skúli Sverrisson; Swedish/Irish fusion outfit This Is How We Fly; Parisian new-wave multi-instrumentalist Mina Tindle; US vocal looper Julianna Barwick; influential record label Bedroom Community and acclaimed artist and poet, Jessica Dessner (sister of Bryce and Aaron).
The Irish talent includes Donal Dineen, Crash Ensemble and many more, while there will be various talks, film screenings and more to be announced.
Another announcement is to be made in June, while tickets are on sale from May 21st.
