Details of Jack White's backstage tour rider have been leaked by a venue that the former White Stripes man played last week.
The venue in question, the University of Oklahoma, has now been blacklisted by White's booking agency for its indiscretion - but not before its school newspaper did the damage.
The contract, leaked on OUdaily.com, reveals some very particular requests, including a specific recipe for chunky guacamole. "Mix all ingredients in a large bowl, careful not to mush the avocados too much. We want it chunky," the instructions read. "Please don’t make it too early before it’s served. We’d love to have it around 5 pm."
The rider also specified that there was to be no fluorescent lighting in the backstage area and repeated several times that there was to be no alcohol supplied.
Perhaps more bizarrely is a total ban on bananas. 'PLEASE NOTE," it reads, "this is a NO BANANA tour (Seriously). We don't want to see bananas anywhere in the building."
A spokesperson for White responded to the leak, denying that the requests were White's alone. "Contrary to what some believe, Jack doesn't write the rider nor make demands about his favorite snacks that must be in his dressing room," it read. "We're not even sure he likes guacamole but we do know that the folks who work hard to put on the show do enjoy it."
The contract also reveals that White got paid $80,000 for the gig. Guess he won't be buying any bananas with his earnings.
