Today could very much be a good day for Ice Cube's son O'Shea Jackson Jr., with news emerging from various outlets in the United States that he could be set to be cast as his father in the upcoming N.W.A. biopic 'Straight Outta Compton'.
Ice Cube Sr., as he shall be known as for the duration of this article, has reportedly been pushing for this casting (no sh*t) since early this year in the movie which he describes as "dramatic story that encompasses hip-hop, dope-dealing, Reaganomics, AIDS, LAPD, rap feuds, FBI, PMRC, the Parental Advisory stickers on the records... all of it." A comedy then, we assume.
O'Shea Jackson Jr. has already begun following in his father's footsteps by pursuing a career in rap music.
The flick will be helmed by F. Gary Gray, who was previously known for his remake of The Italian Job and the Ice Cube starrer Friday. Ice Cube's mate (and N.W.A. partner) Dr. Dre is also on board as a producer.
No official word on the casting has been announced by producers yet but we imagine that, if Ice Cube's son isn't cast, it'll go to Jaden Smith with Martin Lawrence playing the entirety of the other roles in varying degrees of make-up.*
*This actually isn't true.
