Everclear are well known as veterans of the grunge scene so it's nice to see the Oregon trio try something new. This set of light-hearted, bouncy power pop is spiritually closer to the Beach Boys than Nirvana and its air of homespun philosophy evokes small town America in all its innocence. If you can take the slackjaw lyrics there's plenty of good-hearted, dumb fun to be had here, including a high-spirited rendition of Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl. Like the album as a whole, it's far more enjoyable than you might realistically expect.
