DJ tells Mickey Mouse to "Lawyer Up!"
Canadian music superstar Deadmau5 is embroiled in a feud with the Disney Corporation, who claims that his trademark mouse ears logo (above) is too similar to their famous Mickey Mouse logo.
Legal papers filed in the United States yesterday by Disney are attempting to have the DJ blocked from acquiring a trademark of his image in the US.
Deadmau5 currently holds the trademark of his image in dozens of countries across the glove including Japan, Germany, Italy and the UK but Disney are trying to force the DJ - real name Joel Zimmerman - to abandon any such plans in America.
The documents filed by Disney state that its ears logo has been associated with the company for 60 years and allowing Deadmau5 to trade on an image they deem too similar would harm their business in the United States and the rest of the globe.
Deadmau5 wears a mouse ears helmet during his live performances and it's easy to see why Disney believe that it is too similar to their logo.
The DJ seems intent to fight the multi-billion dollar company, so expect to hear a lot more about this over the coming weeks and months.
Disney thinks you might confuse an established electronic musician / performer with a cartoon mouse. That's how stupid they think you are.
